Janmashtami 2020 has special significance in Sanatan Dharma. The birth anniversary of Shri Krishna is celebrated with pomp across the country. Janmashtami is celebrated on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of the month of Bhadrapada. This year the festival falls on 12 August 2020.   1. It is said that Lord Krishna's great-grandmother 'Marisha' and step-mother Rohini (mother of Balarama) belonged to the 'Nag' tribe.
  2. Lord Krishna's bow was named Sharang and the name of the chakra was Sudarshan. He could work in these three forms: Cosmic, Divya and Devastra.
  3. Lord Krishna never lived in Dwarka more than 6 months apart from the last years.
  4. It is said that Lord Krishna completed his education at Sandipani Ashram in Ujjain in a few months.
  5. The name of Lord Krishna's chariot was Jaitra. His charioteer was Daruk / Bahuk. The names of his horsemen (horses) were Shaivya, Meghapushp, Balhak and Sugriva.
  6. It is said that Bhagavan Krishna founded or got two cities. Indraprastha (formerly Khandavaprastha) from Dwarka (formerly Kushavati) and Pandava sons.

In India, is a Gazetted holiday in Bihar, Chandigarah, Chattisgarah, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Miizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Nagaland, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. In Tamil Nadu this holiday is known as Sri Krishna Jayanti. This year, Krishna Janmashtami 2020 will be observed on Wednesday, 12 August Krishna Janmashtami 2020 in Bihar .
